NXT-ID says its biometric wallet device is now available for order

NXT-ID has announced that its biometric wallet and payments device — the Wocket — is now available to be ordered.

According to the company, the Wocket costs $150, and works anywhere credit cards are accepted, and employs biometric technology to authorize purchases.

“Today is a milestone for both NXT-ID and consumers that are concerned about the security of their wallet,” Gino Pereira, CEO of NXT-ID said. “We designed the Wocket specifically for the consumer of today that is still not willing to put all their payment and identity info on their smartphone. We believe Wocket is the solution that addresses security issues that consumers care about but still is convenient and easy to use.”

Reported previously in BiometricUpdate.com, NXT-ID has been making announcements about its biometric wallet device for the year or so. In October 2013, the company submitted its patent application for the Wocket.

Payments are a major focus for the biometrics community right now. Just this week, panellists at the Biometrics Institute Asia Pacific conference discussed the importance and impending prevalence of biometric payments for consumers.
